Marking 82nd years since the Kindertransports began.
This month marks 82 years since the Kindertransports began rescuing children from Nazi Europe and taking them to the United Kingdom.
We honour the parents who had the strength to put their beloved children alone on trains, boats and planes.
Susan Clapper (née Eichmann), the only child of Hans and Gertrud Eichmann from Bad Salzuflen in Germany, survived as part of the Kindertransport. Both her parents were murdered by the Nazis. She would survive the Holocaust and eventually settle in Durban, South Africa.
Pictured here is the suitcase that Susan carried with her on her journey to Britain.
